Do you watch any shows that deal with the paranormal? There are a few that I never miss and some that keep me up at night. I think my favorite is Discovery Channel’s Expedition X. The host of the show is Josh Gates, who also hosts Expedition Unknown, which focuses more on archaeological adventures, treasure hunting, and investigations into unsolved events.

Expedition X, which first aired in 2020, is focused on supernatural encounters, mysterious creatures, and extraterrestrial phenomena. What I love about the show is they look at events from both a scientific and paranormal perspective. Phil Torres is a biologist and is always looking for a logical explanation for what people are reporting. Jessica Chobot believes in ghosts, UFOs, witches… anything to do with the strangest mysteries.

Some of my favorite episodes dealt with the paranormal. Phil searches for a natural explanation while Jessica pulls out all the paranormal devices and attempts to communicate with the spirit.

EVP Recorder: used to capture disembodied voices that occur at a frequency lower than the normal human ear can detect.

REM-POD Surveillance Device: detects changes in electromagnetic field and temperature. If a spirit gets near, the alarm and lights go off.

Ghost/Spirit Box: a way to communicate with the spirit. Ask a question and the box scans radio frequencies to allow for spirit communication.

These devices, and more, are used in episodes where they are researching a paranormal mystery. At the end of each show, Josh Gates summarizes what they proved and what remained unsolved.

They have definitely had some encounters that were difficult to explain, including images on film, voices on recordings, and physical encounters that left marks.

If you are curious about the paranormal, Expedition X is a must-see show. You might even order a few of these devices for yourself, especially if you have had your own strange encounter.

I ordered an EVP recorder after I woke up in the middle of the night to find the chain hanging down from my ceiling fan turning in a perfect circle. My fan wasn’t even on. I must admit, I was a little freaked out and stared at it for a few minutes. Finally, I got up, stopped it, and went back to bed. The next day I tried to get it to turn the same way, but I couldn’t do it. Next time, I’ll be ready to talk to whoever messes with me in the middle of the night.
